Arvind Kejriwal's debut victory over INC reminds NTR's 1983 triumph

Source: NDTV | Edited by Deepshikha Ghosh | Updated: December 08, 2013 16:10 IST

Assembly election 2013: Arvind Kejriwal sweeps Sheila Dikshit right out of her constituency

New Delhi: In  a mega political bender, rookie politician  Arvind Kejriwal has defeated three-time chief minister Sheila Dikshit in her constituency of New Delhi. (Mango man Arvind Kejriwal tastes sweet success)

The 44-year-old emerged after hours of meditation at his party office, wearing his trademark white Gandhi cap. "This is a victory of the people...it shows India has won, democracy has won," he said to a huge crowd of supporters, all brandishing brooms, the symbol of his one-year-old Aam Aadmi party.

Voters mercilessly spurned Ms Dikshit and her party, permitting the incumbent Congress less than 10 of Delhi's 70 seats. The BJP has emerged as the single-largest party in the capital with 34 seats, one short of the half-way mark. If the results deliver a hung assembly for Delhi, Mr Kejriwal is emphatic that he will not align with either the Congress or the BJP. (All you wanted to know about Sheila Dikshit but didn't know who to ask)

The symmetrical stellar performances of Mr Kejriwal and his AAP imputed a double take the Congress and the BJP, who repeatedly dismissed the new organization as an upstart throughout  the campaign for Delhi.

Ignoring those dismissals, an army of meticulously-organized volunteers spread Mr Kejriwal's message: that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) stands for anti-corruption, service and accountability in a country robbed of effective and clean governance.

The record 65.86% turnout  in Delhi is being attributed partly to an enthusiastic welcome for the AAP, formed after Mr Kejriwal split from his one-time partner Anna Hazare. In 2011, they invigorated middle class India with a movement demanding the Lopkal bill, the genesis for a new national ombudsman or Lokpal empowered to investigate charges of venality against elected representatives and bureaucrats.

But after a strong launch, the movement dissipated; Mr Kejriwal said he had no choice but to enter politics, a move Anna said he could not get behind.

Atharintiki Daaredi Movie Review by Chaitanya Kumar Vummethala

Atharintiki Daaredi, I have watched this  movie on first day first show (I mean special show at 8:15 AM on Friday, 27th September 2013 - at Aravind Theatre, Chennai).

Due to some serious decisions and professional commitment, I had to stop blogging for sometime! But I could not resist myself in writing about Power Star Pawan Kalyan's movie, Atharintiki Daaredi. That's how this is becoming my first movie review post on my blog, in this calendar year!!

Just to mention in a single line - Atharintiki Daaredi is an expected range wholesome entertainer from Jalsa team, that entertains every movie lover, with all the required ingredients rightly placed in it. Specially I need to mention about Nadhia, Samantha, Prasad Murella, Rao Ramesh, DSP, Trivikram and Boman Irani etc., for their best contribution to this fabulous success.

As it was a FDFS, I could not able to grasp everything to judge the movie range and expand on this, just in my first observation (I was among the power fans who were at full swing). So will elaborate more on my review after my second watch....until then please enjoy the below pictures:

Is Amulyam truly Amulyam (Precious)?

As per me yes, it is Amulyam! The term Amulyam stands for precious and the name is apt for www.amulyam.in The kind of services they are providing, are really admirable because anyone of us may want to use a mobile phone (for an instance) for an urgent discussion or to text someone - but when it is not urgent but important to pass a message, you would need to use a service like SMS from Web (which is part of Amulyam Services).

Then on a separate topic, few may want to recharge their mobile phone for free (by earning money for it) and Amulyam made it possible, by way of educating its users on several topics. Such as, registered users of Amulyam would get incentives for answering useful puzzles and learning new things - ultimately to earn money that can be used for recharging their mobiles.

Amulyam has become a powerful platform, that has brought many service providers together (such as online travel booking portals, online shopping sites) to make their users' job not only easy but happy (as they get these things with an incentive).  Finally, what I like much about Amulyam is - get benefited through their website by both learning new things while earning money....

If you would like to join this platform to gain some knowledge while benefiting the free recharge through a meaningful internet browsing, then click on this link and follow a few onscreen steps -

More officials can issue verification certificates for passport applicants now

January 8th 2007
HYDERABAD: Even the station house officer (SI or CI as the case maybe) of the police station of your area or your mandal revenue officer can now issue a verification certificate so as to enable you to apply for a tatkal passport. This has been made possible following the simplification of the passport issuance procedures by the Ministry of External Affairs. Giving the details, Regional Passport Officer, B. Balabhaskar said on Sunday that the list of officers authorised to issue verification certificates for obtaining a tatkal passport was expanded.

The new members (Issuing Authorities)
Officers of the rank of under secretary and above in the Government of India or the State Government were already authorised to issue the certificate. The list now includes sub-divisional magistrates, first class judicial magistrates, officers of the rank of Major and above in armed forces, apart from MRO or SI or CI of the area.

This apart, one could apply for a passport under tatkal and obtain a passport of normal validity of 10 years, by submitting any three of the 14 documents prescribed by the ministry, along with an affidavit. However, one of them must be a photo identity document. The list of 14 documents is: elector's photo ID card; service ID cards issued by State/Central Government offices, public sector undertakings, local bodies or public limited companies, SC/ST/OBC certificate, freedom fighters ID cards, arms licences, property documents such as pattas or registered deeds, ration cards, pension documents, railway ID cards, PAN cards or income tax identity, bank/kisan/post office passbooks, students ID cards issued by educational institutions, driving licences, and or birth certificates issued under Registration of Births and Deaths Act.

No NOC (for Govt. Employees)
Government employees need not submit a no-objection certificate now. They should produce an identity certificate issued by their employer. Chairmen of business organisations like FICCI, CII and ASSOCHAM could also issue verification certificates in respect of owners, partners or directors of member companies. Minors could also obtain passports without either of their parents having a passport.

How to get an Aadhaar Card - Detailed Process

With the government making Aadhaar Card (unique identification card) mandatory in procuring LPG connections, issuing passports, sale or purchase of houses, opening a PF account or withdrawing your provident fund, opening a bank account, etc, the queue of people waiting to lay their hands on the card seems to be getting longer and longer.

Here's a ready reckoner on how to get the card:
# Aadhaar card enrollment is free and you need to enroll only once as an individual is entitled for only one card.

# You can go to any authorized Aadhaar enrollment center anywhere in India with your identity and address proof.

# UIDAI process accepts 18 Proof of Identity and 33 Proof of Address documents. Common proofs of identity and address are election photo ID card, Ration card, passport and driving license.

# Photo ID cards like PAN card and government ID cards are permissible for identity proof. Address proof documents also include water - electricity - telephone bills from the last three months.

# In case you do not have above mentioned proofs, certificate of identify having photo issued by Gazetted Officer/Tehsildar on letterhead is also accepted as proof of identity.

# Certificate of address having photo issued by MP or MLA /Gazetted Officer/Tehsildar on letterhead or by Village Panchayat head or its equivalent authority (for rural areas) is accepted as valid proof of address.

# If someone in your family does not have individual valid documents, the resident can still enrol if his/her name exists in family entitlement document.

# Where there are no documents available, residents may also take the help of 'Introducers' at the enrolment centre. The Introducers are notified by the registrar.

# At the enrollment center, your photo, finger-prints and iris scan will also be taken as a part of the enrollment.

# You need to enrol only once. Enrolling again is a waste of your time as you will get only one Aadhaar number.

# Based on the information provided, your details will be verified and If the application is successful, an Aadhaar number will be generated and mailed to your address.

# The waiting time for Aadhaar may vary from 60-90 days after receipt of resident data packets.

# Click here for the list of documents that can be submitted as proof of identity and address.

# After enrolment, quality checks are done by the enrolment centre supervisors, followed by correction process (where required) and data packet consolidation.

# Subsequently, the Enrolment Agency sends the data to UIDAI data centre. The data undergoes various stages of screening and validations in CIDR. This ensures that the source of data is authenticated besides ensuring that no duplicate exists.

# Sample quality checks are done on demographic and biometric data collected from residents.

# Apart from that the operator/supervisor/introducer/enrolment agency and registrar, information in each packet is also validated. Only after passing the data quality checks and other validations, the packet goes for de-duplication and Aadhaar gets generated.

# In case of any errors, the packet goes on hold. For example, if the particulars of the operator who enrolled the resident are found to be inconsistent with database or there is a mismatch observed in photo and age/gender (e.g. a child's photo with age mentioned as 50 years), then the packet is held for further enquiry.

# Corrective actions are taken on such packets, wherever possible, else a rejection letter guiding resident to re-enroll is dispatched to the resident.

# India Post is entrusted with the responsibility of printing and delivery of Aadhaar letters. Depending on backlog for generation, location of delivery etc.

# India Post may ordinarily take 3-5 weeks to print and deliver Aadhaar letters to the residents.

Benefits of an Aadhar card
# The unique identification or Aadhaar project would result in saving of about Rs 110,000 crore by 2020 (around 58 per cent of expenditure of major public welfare schemes), a Planning Commission study released said.

# By providing a clear proof of identity, Aadhaar will empower the underprivileged residents in accessing services such as the formal banking system and give them the opportunity to easily avail various other services provided by the government and the private sector. Karbonn launches 5.9" dual SIM Tablet Phone

For those who want the best mobile phone at a best price, this is a very good news! Karbonn A30 pushes the boundary between a tablet and a phone, claiming to be ‘World’s first 15cm (5.9”) phone’. Remember the Galaxy Note (5.3”) and Note II (5.5”) which Samsung branded as ‘Phablet’—a hybrid of Phone and Tablet.

Amalgamating the functions of a smart phone and a tablet, Karbonn here poses stiff competition to its Indian rival Micromax. The two brands have been vying with each other to woo the budget-conscious Indian buyers. They offer tablet computers and mobile handsets of high specifications that match those from global players, at almost one-third their price.

The Galaxy Notes come for prices above Rs. 35K; Galaxy SII and SIII for Rs. 30K and 35K; Karbonn A 30 and Micromax A 110 are available for around Rs. 11,000.
