BSNL Penta IS701R Tablet puts check to Aakash & Ubislate

Last year, DataWind in association with the Government of India came out with a 7 inch Android tablet for students. Named Aakash, the tablet costs Rs 2,999 in the market; while it’s subsidized rate is just Rs 2,250.

Aakash, which was hailed as the cheapest tablet in the world, was projected as revolutionary and was talked about the world over. In fact, its makers got lakhs of preorders.

Before the euphoria could die down, though, public sector telecom operator BSNL has come out with an extremely low cost tablet of its own. Manufactured by Noida based Pantel Technologies, the Penta IS701R tablet has WiFi and is priced at Rs 3,499.

Now we have two tablets in the same category - at around Rs 3,000. Here we try to compare the Aakash and BSNL tablets in terms of availability, price, specifications and value additions.

What is HTML5?

HTML5 is a language for structuring and presenting content for the World Wide Web, and is a core technology of the Internet originally proposed by Opera Software. It is the fifth revision of the HTML standard (created in 1990 and standardized as HTML4 as of 1997) and as of February 2012 is still under development. Its core aims have been to improve the language with support for the latest multimedia while keeping it easily readable by humans and consistently understood by computers and devices (web browsers, parsers, etc.). HTML5 is intended to subsume not only HTML 4, but XHTML 1 and DOM Level 2 HTML as well.

Following its immediate predecessors HTML 4.01 and XHTML 1.1, HTML5 is a response to the observation that the HTML and XHTML in common use on the World Wide Web are a mixture of features introduced by various specifications, along with those introduced by software products such as web browsers, those established by common practice, and the many syntax errors in existing web documents. It is also an attempt to define a single markup language that can be written in either HTML or XHTML syntax. It includes detailed processing models to encourage more interoperable implementations; it extends, improves and rationalises the markup available for documents, and introduces markup and application programming interfaces (APIs) for complex web applications. For the same reasons, HTML5 is also a potential candidate for cross-platform mobile applications. Many features of HTML5 have been built with the consideration of being able to run on low-powered devices such as smartphones and tablets. In December 2011 research firm Strategy Analytics forecast sales of HTML5 compatible phones will top 1 billion in 2013.

Prakash Jha's Aarakshan - An Excellent Attempt

I am just done with my late night show - Aarakshan (a Prakash Jha's Movie)...........I am thrilled and wanted to put a single statement on the movie - "Aarakshan is an Out Standing Movie, these kind of movies will certainly motivate at least few Indians to choose such a path to provide unselfish service against the educational system currently practicing in the country". I thoroughly enjoyed every frame of the movie and clapped hard numerous times for Jha's excellent taking and thought provoking scenes - excellent performances by every technician (including actors/actresses) - Such movies should deserve a great applause and even deserves BIG AWARDS!

Making of All Time Best Movies of Tollywood

I have about 750 popular telugu movies in my database, but I always fail to list the top 100 or top 50 or top 25 or top 10 or of that matter top 5 movies of all time, when some one questions me about the best of tollywood!...So I thought of taking all my blog visitors support in preparing this list!

I dont mind including even dubbed movies (such as Nayakudu, Police Story, Roja, Vichitra Sodharulu, Sivaji, Bhaarateeyudu etc.,) but my intension is to know public opinion on this, which would certainly help me in finalizing the list.

Few parameters that I wanted you to consider while preparing the list are:
  1. Kindly share the top 10 Movies from the depth of your heart considering the final product, that has a great team work (irrespective of whether it has your favorite hero, director or technician)
  2. Rank them according to the content, performances and basic idea of the movie
  3. The movie might be of any genre / theme - we should consider only if it has done 100% justice to its theme or not.
  4. "Only Musical Hits" such as Orange - cannot be included into the list.
  5. Remember - Great contribution from every technician (Story, Dialogues, Direction, Music Direction, Cinematography etc.,) along with Excellent Performances by every actor and actress will help the project becoming a classic.
  6. Kindly discuss about this topic with your movie loving parents / grand parents to know more about movies like Missamma, Badi Panthulu, Rangula Ratnam, Shaukaru, Gundammakatha, Sudigundalu etc., and share your views on telugu cinema of golden era.
  7. Kindly share your thoughts with a single line - before including a particular movie to the list.
I would like to come up with a wonderful blog post called "The History of Telugu Cinema - Tollywood" very soon. This should inspire my blog readers to come up with more ideas.

Please write your opinions on the comment sections of this blog....expecting a good number of result for this meaningful cause (My intention is to provide a very good / quality list of telugu movies to movie lovers who would search for such list on Web, through my blogspot).

Best Movie and Director of Tollywood (2011): Opinion Poll

As per my earlier posts - below is the opinion poll for electing the best movie and the best director of tollywood for the year 2011. I believe that the movie will become best only with its director, so I chose to put both the electives in a single option.

Note: I opted out the best producer poll, due to varied reasons!
