Total Collections of Mahesh Babu's Dookudu
Though the performance by Mahesh Babu was at top notch....
"Mahesh was as usual brilliant in every frame, whether it may be the timing in dialogue delivery or conveying a message with an expression on his face. His Dances were apt and Fights were great."
....this movie is not a great one like Mahesh's Athadu (or) Pokiri, but due to the festive season and release timing - Dookudu made good collections and stood as the best of 2011.
"Father-Son Sentiment Mixed with Action & Comedy episodes is the plot for this movie. Taking and Screenplay (1st Half) - with hilarious comedy, action sequences and punching dialogues were mind-blowing, but weak narration and screenplay in the 2nd Half, might restrict "Dookudu" to re-write the records of Magadheera or of that matter Pokiri. Weak Story, Music and Lyrics are the other set of draw backs apart from Direction for Dookudu"
And as I mentioned earlier, Dookudu is not that movie - which can break all the existing records...
"Most of the talent was wasted in Dookudu, by taking too many artists in the movie. Lack of clarity and control on the script resulted just another normal hit for both Mahesh and Seenu Vytla. Certainly missed a better opportunity of breaking records! So Seenu Vytla doesn't deserve to be a top league director.. What do you Say?"

Fate of Tollywood (2011) - Chaitanya Kumar Vummethala
We eagerly wait for the results and individual rankings after writing exams (in academics), similarly in the world of telugu cinema (tollywood) this is the time to assess who did the best and what actually happened in the entire game - last year (i.e., in 2011)!
My brief analysis on Tollywood 2011, goes like this:
To quickly start - there were about 116 straight telugu movies released in 2011, in addition to 126 dubbing movies (from all other languages) being dumped in Andhra Pradesh. Don't surprise by looking at this number surpassing the actual number of straight movie releases (though it's pity, is very common in this industry).
While the budget and collections of a particular movie is always unknown to the end movie lover (audience), even I don't want to get deeper into it (I am also one of the end movie lover) rather would love to express my opinion on the main motive of the movie and its influence on the common audience, i.e., making money (at least recovering the investment) by entertaining movie lovers, which is the ultimate motive of the commercial cinema.
Though the above numbers summing to 242 (116+126), I chose to rate only 88 flicks (combining both category of movie releases), 70 Straight and 18 Dubbed Movies (these 88 being properly populated and promoted by its makers and created some expectations on the movie). The rest of 154 Movies are not even eligible to spend time on! Even makers opted not to spend money to promote these movies (they are already aware that these flicks are not going to yield profits for them, so they opt to keep quite - instead of spending more money on such useless movies).
Note: In case (or) By mistake if I missed any of the useful / good movie, I am sorry and please inform me by writing a small comment under this post, so that I will include such movies in the below table and change the entire dashboard!

Are Pawan Kalyan and Mahesh Babu, going hand in hand?
For those who missed my last post, below is an interesting article about "how Pawan is following Mahesh":-
When Mahesh's Dookudu was first hit the screens, there was no much hype (from the makers) other than the usual expectations that will be there for the Super Star's Movie and the story-line was also not so predictable - pre-release (other than few assumptions such as - the movie will have enough comedy coupled with mass elements, because of the King Maker - Seenu Vytla and their title selection). Though the timing was absolutely a jackpot for Dookudu makers to release it, they did not spent much on the publicity and promotion activities (pre-release) rather concentrated on the content and post release promotion work.

Similarly, Pawan Kalyan's Panjaa is arriving (on 9th December) with a little hype (as of now) and an unclear prediction on the story line (with some expectations on the comedy side due to the presence of Brahmi & Ali). Makers of Panjaa also have not spent too much on pre-release promotional activities (other than two little powerful teasers and have planned a grand audio release function on 19th November 2011 at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium).
Having at least 2 weeks gap after Naga Chaitanya's Bezawada and Nara Rohit's Solo releases (both the movies releasing on 24th November 2011), the time slot for Panjaa's release is definitely very much apt for the highest crowd puller of the industry, Power Star - Pawan Kalyan.

Is Pawan Kayan (with Panjaa) following Mahesh Babu (Dookudu)?
Mahesh Babu is all set to recreate the magic in combination with Puri Jagannadh (The Business Man), just look at the below picture. He also have another set of movies such as Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, a Movie with Sukumar, and another movie under the direction of Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi (Krish) in his hands.
Same is the case with Pawan Kalyan, who is currently shooting for his Gubbar Singh has another 2 movies in his hand (a Movie with Trivikram, and a Movie under the production house of either DVV Dannayya or Dil Raju)!
Its already proven that Mahesh Babu's Dookudu has become one of the biggest hits of the industry and the team have also celebrated its 50 days function in a grand way at Vijayawada.

Real Records or Marketing Ploys: TOI Article about...
Hyderabad Times gets you the real story behind the ‘record-breaking’ success of many filmsSuresh KavirayaniSuccess meets just three days after a film releases, claims of record-breaking overseas collections and announcements of unbelievable box office openings seem to be the new publicity stunts in T-Town. Irrespective of the film’s fate at the BO, producers are going on record, making tall claims. And amidst all the media blitzkrieg, it is hard to figure out which film is doing well and which one is being hyped. In the recent past, “Badrinath” announced that it collected 16 crore in three days, while “Oosaravelli” producer BVSN Prasad stated that his film collected 56 crore in the first week itself. Superstar Mahesh posted on a social networking site that “Dookudu” is officially the highest grosser so far in the Telugu film industry (reports say that the film grossed a whopping 83.15 crore). Are all this claims true or are they just publicity gimmicks? |

Let us compare the so called industry hit Mahesh Babu's Dookudu with Power Star Pawan Kalyan's Panjaa to analyse if there is a possibility for Pawan Kalyan to stand as No.1 Hero (in terms of box-office collections) in tollywood!
Makers of Dookudu have taken enough care on choosing the subject, cast and technical crew along with selecting a brilliant time-slot for its release (on 23rd
September, 2011 – during a long vacation and holiday season) with highest number of prints (1400+).
There were
only 2 decent size movies released (Kandireega & Dhada) on 12th
August 2011 in tollywood, i.e., almost 6 weeks before Dookudu’s release date, out of
which one was a major dud. Also there was enough gap of over 7 weeks before
these two releases - where there was not even a single major movie released
with expectations, after Badrinath and 180 (they were released on 10th and 24th
of June 2011) these two were also duds.

Dookudu & Oosaravelli Collections as of now, could be..
After looking at a press
meet (Dookudu) and various box-office collections reports (from various
websites), I thought of spending some time on analyzing the collections report
for both Dookudu & Oosaravelli - with the basic information such as:
Total number of Theatres they released in, Average number of Seats per Theatre,
Occupancy Percentage (best assumptions based on few facts and trade talks),
Average Cost of Ticket – This information / report is not from any
sources but just with some basic idea on box office collections and following
few best possible assumptions, I have made this...

Dookudu Movie Review - by Chaitanya Kumar Vummethala
Grand Opening, to start with! The List of Movies to be released, this festive Season..

Dookudu is for sure going to be a box-office hit, but is definitely not a script oriented movie (Otherwise I would say the Director has not put 100% effort on preparing the final script, keeping Mahesh in View), at the same time its neither a movie for a BIG Hero on a BIG Budget.
Shaping the script with huge Star Cast like he did in his previous movie (KING) is the biggest challenge for the Director (SV is master in handling such a big team effortlessly, however I would say sometimes this might divert the attention of audience, if the movie is not made properly).
Father-Son Sentiment Mixed with Action & Comedy episodes is the plot for this movie. Taking and Screenplay (1st Half) - with hilarious comedy, action sequences and punching dialogues were mind-blowing, but weak narration and screenplay in the 2nd Half, might restrict "Dookudu" to re-write the records of Magadheera or of that matter Pokiri. Weak Story, Music and Lyrics are the other set of draw backs apart from Direction for Dookudu.

Dookudu Premier Show Talk / Review
My cousins are watching Dookudu Premier Show at Vyjayanthi, Nacharam and are enjoying the movie a lot - they are extremely happy for their money and rated the movie 4/5 to 4.5/5.
Powerful Punch Dialogues, Full of Comedy mixed with Action & Emotion episodes - Totally a Vaitla's movie it seems! Will update Super Star Mahesh Babu's performance along with other cast & crew's contribution after watching the movie personally tomorrow!
