Best Movie and Director of Tollywood (2011): Opinion Poll

As per my earlier posts - below is the opinion poll for electing the best movie and the best director of tollywood for the year 2011. I believe that the movie will become best only with its director, so I chose to put both the electives in a single option.

Note: I opted out the best producer poll, due to varied reasons!

Real Records or Marketing Ploys: TOI Article about...

Hyderabad Times gets you the real story behind the ‘record-breaking’ success of many films

Suresh Kavirayani

Success meets just three days after a film releases, claims of record-breaking overseas collections and announcements of unbelievable box office openings seem to be the new publicity stunts in T-Town. Irrespective of the film’s fate at the BO, producers are going on record, making tall claims. And amidst all the media blitzkrieg, it is hard to figure out which film is doing well and which one is being hyped.

In the recent past, “Badrinath” announced that it collected 16 crore in three days, while “Oosaravelli” producer BVSN Prasad stated that his film collected 56 crore in the first week itself. Superstar Mahesh posted on a social networking site that “Dookudu” is officially the highest grosser so far in the Telugu film industry (reports say that the film grossed a whopping 83.15 crore). Are all this claims true or are they just publicity gimmicks?

Dookudu & Oosaravelli Collections as of now, could be..

Oosaravelli Movie Review - by Chaitanya Kumar Vummethala

This should be a certain hit to join the tollywood hits league of 2011 (due to the seasonal release).

With timing being most appropriate, much hyped-prestigious project (made with a pool of recognized and talented team) for a big budget movie release, Oosaravelli has got a very good scope to break the box-office records. However, for various reasons this movie is for sure not going to rock the box-office collections in the coming weeks. Surender Reddy must have prepared this movie for Ravi Teja who is generally capable of managing such scripts with his usual style of acting. Oosaravelli is definitely not a tailor made movie for NTR Jr.

Having said that NTR Jr., has did his best in Oosaravalli, but to meet the expectations on the movie, both the Director & Script Writer should have done a bit more to do the justice. While DSP and Rasool Ellore, excelled in their respective departments other technicians did their bit as per the requirement.
